My odd little piece (including “screen shots”) Deleted Scenes has been published in The New Flesh Magazine. Perhaps one of my oddest with, I hope, a good mix of humour and horror, but most hopefully something of a story in there. My thanks to the editors William Pauley III and Suzie Bradshaw (both of whom make appearances in the story – can you spot their roles?) for publishing this one. In all the craziness and bizarre at The New Flesh, it seems like the story has found a good home.

Lie Beside Mary – horror story now at Flashes in the Dark
This one jumps around a little with tense changes and location changes, perhaps too confusing, I don’t know, but I hope you enjoy Lie Beside Mary, just a little story about a couple going out for dinner. A quick read and I see I’ve screwed up one of the tense changes (it made sense when I was working on it). Proofreading never ends.
My thanks to editor Lori Titus for taking this story on. There’s lots of other great fiction at Flashes in the Dark, including Lori’s own Maradith Ryder series.
The Vampire Gustav at the End of The Universe – chapbook
Lame Goat Press will shortly publish a small collection – a chapbook – of my short stories and flash fiction. A mix of humour, horror and science fiction, mostly stories which have appeared elsewhere, some out of print, and one new story.
The cover is by me, using computer graphics and a photo taken by my sister.

The Rotated – Novel serialization begins
The serialization of my science fiction novel The Rotated has begun at Infinite Windows. The novel is a near-future thriller – probably best described by Infinite Windows editor D. Tannenbaum:
“What if you had a device that would let you rotate out of our world into alternate dimensions? What if an organization, shrouded in darkness and conspiracy, wanted to control you and your travels? What would you do? How far would you go to protect yourself and your loved ones?”
The novel is based on my flash fiction piece The Rotated which first appeared in the June 2009 issue of Infinite Windows.
The current issue also includes my flash fiction story “Apollo 19” – a very different tone and feel, and pace, to The Rotated, but it still probably has my “voice”.
Thanks to Dan – who has been a great supporter of the work, encouraging me to develop that original story – and Shane for taking the novel on, and to Peter Parkinson who read and gave me feedback on drafts.
Zemogorgon – new story in Pulp Metal Magazine
The remarkable Pulp Metal Magazine has just published it’s latest issue, including my flash story Zemogorgon (scroll down – it’s the last story on the page). This is a kind of dark magical fantasy, set in a fairy realm. Not the usual kind of thing from me perhaps, but I hope you enjoy it.
Zombie-Eyed Girl – flash story on Flashes In The Dark
My story Zombie-Eyed Girl has just been published in Flashes In The Dark. A creepy, that was fun to write.
I will be participating in another Pekka Kucha night at Te Manawa in August, and plan to read this story, with accompanying slides. I’ve been working on the slides and they’re wicked creepy.
Left to Chance – flash story reprint
My crime flash story Left to Chance originally published online in the wonderful, brutal and gritty Powder Burn Flash, has just been reprinted in actual print in Shalla Magazine number 4. It’s nice to have something in print – I can actually hold it in my hand (well, when it arrives in the post).
I generally don’t send stories out for reprint, but had an invitation from the editors for that story.
Guide Number 3 – new horror story in The New Flesh magazine
My fictional Guide Number 3 – a guide to a serial killer artist – is out now in The New Flesh.
This is quirky and different, even for me. I guess I’m experimenting with different ways of telling a story. There is a plot in there, but it’s a little hidden.
Thanks to Suzie B and III for taking this one. The New Flesh seems like a good home for it.
The Servants of Darkness go for Pizza – new story on Static Movement
My offbeat, even humourous, flash horror story The Servants of Darkness go for Pizza appears in the May issue of Static Movement. There’s a good lineup of stories again this month, with some names familiar to readers of online flash – Oonah V. Joslin, Joshua Scribner and co. Chris Bartholemew, the editor, has put together another great issue.
