There are some peer reviews of the Dawn, New Life track here at ccmixter. Great to know people are listening and thinking about the track.
My garden turns to winter …
I stepped out onto the front verandah today and saw how suddenly the drop of winter has stripped the bigger trees, along the side of the property, of their leaves. The new trees, those I planted just two years back, have thrived and are beginning to build their own forest in the the front yard, they are still green and lush. They are evergreen natives; they take my attention. How could it be that I hadn’t noticed the other trees shedding foliage? I suppose it has taken a few weeks, but they look so bare and stark and spindly and now I look over the tops of the new trees and see right into the neighbour’s place, see their tidy almost manicured yard which seems in such contrast to the jungle in front of me. I want the natives to grow fast fast fast so that I can look out and just see trees.
Forgotten trees Book Launch June 12th at Bruce McKenzie’s
Yay! We’ll be having a proper book launch for forgotten trees Bruce McKenzie Booksellers! I’ve invited Helen (Lehndorf) and Tim (Upperton) to come and read some of their poems as well, so it will be a great night. 6pm, June 12th Bruce McKenzie’s, George Street, Palmerston North.
forgotten trees package arrived
Very excited! The package from the States arrived last night – the book and CD look great together. I’d forgotten (no pun intended) that I’d ordered silver CDs … wow they’re so shiny! Now I’ll get to planning the book release party with Bruce at the bookshop.
Squish
Busy with new projects – creativity handbook, story, new music, plus decluttering the house (seems to be popular at the moment, who am I to fight fashion). Hope to put some new music up on archive.org soon. Really this is a nothing post – just letting you all know that I’m still around.
Dawn, New Life track on ccmixter.org
Flat out busy, as always
I’ve started work on a new album, generating some lovely lush new sounds. Still not sure if it will be just a Venus Vulture album or a Sassere multi-media item with soundscape/writing/art/photography. Leaning towards Sassere – I’ve got some nice new photos and writing ideas and it would be good to follow up forgotten trees with something. I’ve come to the end of this round of marking – whew 58 portfolios to get through. I’ve also just finished Jiang Rong’s novel Wolf Totem which I’ll be reviewing for the Christchurch Press. Then on with another couple of writing projects too.
forgotten trees _is_ available
Looks like a little glitch on the website – the book and CD are now available. I probably just mis-uploaded the refreshed page to the site. I’ll get it sorted soon. Meanwhile – just click here to buy. Little glitch on cafepress too – it looks like the spine of the book is showing instead of the cover.
forgotten trees book correction
Just a couple of last minute things to tidy on the book, then it’ll be all go. Should get it done today and have the whole thing set on Saturday. The CD (in paper envelope) is available. Will update the website when we’re ready.
forgotten trees official release to happen on Saturday 19th
forgotten trees is complete now – the initial release will be the book with the CD in a paper envelope. Once we get the sizing sorted, the CD will be available in a jewel case. Both available here.
